Justin Gannaway is a professional Costume Designer. They are currently in their third year as Instructor of Theatre at Drury University. They recently received their MFA in Costume Design from Indiana University. In addition to their studies, Justin has worked as a costume designer at Festival 56, Springfield Little Theatre, the White Theatre, and several more. Notable designs include Bourgeoise Gentleman at Drury University, Hamlet and Pippin for Indiana University, and It’s a Wonderful Life: Live Radio Play for Springfield Little Theatre. They have also served as the Assistant to the Costume Shop Manager at American Player’s Theatre.
Justin is an artist as well as an activist who believes in the transformative quality of theatre and its ability to influence societal change. Themes dealing with gender, race, and the LGBTQ+ community are often featured in the theatrical work Justin takes on, and Justin believes in the ability of the costume to influence and enhance the performance as well as the themes of any work.
